Brookhaven. Take the pledge to be relevant in your community. A call to action.

Take the pledge to be relevant in your community. Who is with me?

As a scientist and a genius (notice my enormous cranium) I often find myself pondering the hypothetical, the what if, the I wonder if it could be. As I strolled through Brookhaven Park just the other day, a nice 73 degree December, very pleasant afternoon, I found myself taken to a place where it seemed like the conflicts in our community were absent and took in the beauty surrounding me. The chirping of the birds, the whisper of the wind, a little chihuahua barking in excitement after seeing a squirrel. It made me think that if I were to be all powerful that this would be the Brookhaven in which I would want to live and raise a family. Then I shook my head, and said to myself, "what a shame we have lost touch with our sense of brotherhood and fellowship". I hope only for a short while, but I fear this consternation will be around for a while. If my superior intellect tells me anything, it is family and friends that make life grand. (My family photo attached to this story) If Brookhaven is to be a place we can all be proud of, it must be a place where all of its citizens have equal representation, our voices are heard, what is important to each of us must be taken seriously and we must celebrate our many cultures and our diversity. We must understand that each of us will have to play a role in making our city grand. As I mentioned in an earlier post, those who introduced and advocated for the city in the first place filled our heads with promises on which we placed our hopes and dreams. I for one will do my part to hold the first administration to their word and push as hard as I can to get what was promised not only to me but my friends, family and community. Will you do your part and get involved in holding our new government accountable to making their promises become reality? Will you go the extra mile for your friends, family and community? Will you be the neighbor that sets the example? Take the pledge to be relevant in your community. Who is with me? Scientically yours, Carl.
