Century Center Petitions to Join Brookhaven

In a story first reported on Patch, Century Center's owners filed a petition on Friday to annex the development into Brookhaven.

The owners of Century Center filed a petition on Friday with the city of Brookhaven to be annexed into the newly created city.

As first reported on Patch, the topic of Century Center annexing itself into Brookhaven was discussed by the Chamblee City Council on Friday morning.

Chamblee city leaders expressed their disappointment in the development, as the city has been seeking to annex the complex and several nearby neighborhoods for more than a year.

Century Center, a commercial office complex, comprises about 120 acres and is owned by Highwoods and Emily Fisher Crum, a Brookhaven resident.

According to a statement from Highwoods, the property owners decided to petition Brookhaven for annexation based on the quality of the services available, according to Jim Bacchetta vice president of Highwoods Atlanta Division.

The application will be reviewed by Brookhaven and must be approved by the Brookhaven city council.
