There's barely enough parking at Town Brookhaven now. Once the new apartment is built and the other stores (hopefully) open there will not be enough parking there.

Georgia, there are a couple of major flaws in your conspiracy theory:
1) Elaine Boyer is a Republican; the only Republican on the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners. She was outspoken in favor of Brookhaven becoming a city. I don't see her being against Lakeside. She is just trying to protect Tucker, which is her district.
2) MMO is also not against cityhood. She just wants there to be a better and fairer process to govern the formation of cities. She wants to eliminate commercial land grab and split neighborhoods that have characterized some cityhood movements.

ReplyWhy more retail? Town Brookhaven still has plenty of vacancy as to many other Brookhaven/Chamblee shopping centers.

ReplyJon, did you mean for the first sentence of the 3rd paragraph which says this:
"The purpose of this meeting is to give the public an opportunity to better understand how they are impacted by our storm water systems and to consider if it makes SINCE to support an increase in funding."
To say this:
"The purpose of this meeting is to give the public an opportunity to better understand how they are impacted by our storm water systems and to consider if it makes SENSE to support an increase in funding."

ReplyIn Georgia, they only check emissions when they inspect your car. Other states check tires, brake lights, etc. I'm not saying I support such a change, but it's something that should definitely be considered.

On the article Recent Gas Leaks Increase Worries Over Regulator Station in PDK Flight Path

ReplyThere are many things and people that could cause a gas regulator station to malfunction and cause a leak or explosion. First of all, this gas regulator station would be 1.5 miles from PDK and in a flight path. Not enough room here to detail all of the other serious safety concerns posed by this regulator station, but here one major concern: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SCADA#Security_issues

Randy, this is not true. The gas leak near Tanglewood Circle in early March was caused when an AGL contractor hit an AGL gas line that was clearly marked.

On the article Chateau De Saigon, Au Rendez-Vous are Hidden Gems

ReplySomeone else agrees too. This was just posted on the article about Au Rendez-Vous moving to Chamblee (http://brookhaven.patch.com//articles/au-rendez-vous-moves-to-chamblee):
"I went there once. It was a depressing atmosphere and the food was only mediocre--more Vietnamese than French--what I call "a hole in the wall." I like a little atmosphere, even if it is only clean and decorated nicely, even if inexpensively decorated. The atmosphere kept me from returning even more than the food. If one wants French, go to Violette's for lunch or dinner (on Clairmont),even if you pay a little more. Violette's daily luncheon special is delicious and inexpensive. You also won't find a more beautiful place to lunch--whether inside the main restaurant, in their sunroom, or on the patio."

Jonathan, do we know who gave permission for more residential construction here? Was it the City of Brookhaven or DeKalb County?
