hope - such a naive statement, I have had sick kids, they got better. I choose where, when & how much to give to charities... and I do give. I don't need some unionized slouch of a checkout person bugging me to give to the charity that they want to take credit for. I also don't want some prosthelytizing bleeding-heart telling me what to care about (pssst... I'm talking about you).

ReplyThis is beyond stupidity on the part of the City of Brookhaven. Someone (Bill Riley?) is leading them to slaughter. I cannot understand this no matter how hard I try.

ReplyI think:
1. The entrance should be closed.
2. Guards should be stationed at exits.
3. Non-white's should be allowed in only during housekeeper/painter hours.
4. No large rims should be allowed on cars at ANY time.
5. Residents adopt a uniform of polo shirts and shorts, sockless footwear.PS - the above is completely facetious.

ReplyTwo words - Bill Riley. This is beyond stupidity & so falsely self-righteous...the sheep of Brookhaven being led down the primrose path to slaughter. This is just too easy... squashing ants is harder.

ReplyMr. McGrew: You astound me with your vehement defense of a non-Brookhavenite builder, who, for the sole reason of greed, wants to change the zoning of a VERY WELL ESTABLISHED single family residential neighborhood. What about the neighbors who bought there thinking they were to be surrounded by like homes? Are you somehow associated with this project?
Your traffic comments make no sense whatsoever - it is akin to "the driveway from the church has a bit of a blind spot, so, the only alternative is to make it 40 townhouses". Ridiculous!
Brookhaven City Planner Howard Koontz, who is a contracted employee, has never met a zoning variance application that he didn't want to recommend approval DESPITE THE FACT, that this application doesn't even meet the minimum requirements to be granted a hearing.
If readers don't like the way this seems to be going, I would urge you to show up at the hearing and have your voice heard.

ReplyWhoa - where were all the YES people and the diminutive Mike Jacobs when this happened? How could they have allowed it? This wasn't in the Carl Vinson study!!!
Hardly a matter to get upset about, and, they still have to survive as a business.

ReplyEPU - Riiight, either I am a callous soul who understands that any potential new legislation would simply be a feckless exercise, or, having the trajedy made personal would allow me to transcend the bounds of reason and propose silly steps.
Again... for those who only wish to criticize, I'm sorry this tragedy happened, I simply don't want to have a stupid knee-jerk reaction. There can never be sufficient regulations covering all careless & selfish acts of humans.

I agree, Bobby Smith is a sport, but he is virtually the only employee at that store worthy of that title, the rest are useless for the most part. The gems of a unionized chain store. I am afraid that Mr. Smith is well over his head there in terms of "managing" the store, he simply hangs on for dear life and tries to corral most of the herd.
That being said, I hate to be asked to donate when I check out, its inappropriate. One thing to simply display a charity's donation area, quite another to make you say "no" to a question you'd rather not hear from a person (not Smith) that you don't want to talk to.
