On the article Costco Gas Pumps At Town Brookhaven Meets Opposition

ReplyBhaven Resi Sembler did not own the property before I moved to the area. And I'm more than happy to discuss the intricacies of land development with you. I'm all for walkable transit friendly urban style development. What I object to is placing gas pumps on the residential side of the development. There are abandoned or underutilized gas stations along Peachtree if its more gas pumps we need.
Parkplaceman39, while I don't have a Costco membership, I've heard they are good, and cheaper gas is always nice. Its not a question of wanting a Costco gas station its a question of where it was located.

Kim I am not following your comment. Did someone delete a post that said something negative about Cross Keys?

ReplyI've read several complaints from residents about speeding on Dresden. If that is the case then they may want to keep some uneven surfaces on Dresden since it slows people down. Just saying.

Good points about FOG, keeping Fats Oil and Grease out of the drain. I keep a container next to the sink to pour grease into. And looking at the cutaways of how it clogs up sewer pipes makes me want to further reduce my fat intake - imagine what it does to your arteries.
As to local government Youtube's, musically I like this largely volunteer effort by MARTA - the Marta Safety Slide! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k9cFVdWQiaw

On the article Brookhaven's City Offices Are ... Not In Brookhaven

I imagine one problem with the Kroger/Harris Teeter spot is it would require buildout to convert it into useable space for offices. while this is a possiblity for a longer term space, the City is seeking temporary space to use for offices which is why it makes sense to move into something set up for offices. I suspect the space proposed doesn't even require new carpeting or paint.

"The fact is, though, that the office space requirements articulated could not or would not be accepted by Brookhaven-based property owners."
Thanks Kim, that seems to sum it up. It would be nice but without if it doesn't reasonably exist then there are worse things than having the City Offices outside the city for one year.Though I assume/hope the public meetings will be held in the temporary Court space at Corporate Square.

ReplyThe Perimeter Center landscaped medians were littered with yellow plastic signs for the BiPlane ride business, maybe somebody can remove those illegally place signs and bring them to this great recycling effort.
As to the BiPlane company they should be ashamed of themselves.

See my answer above, at the time those statements were made its easy they had a reasonable basis for it. Though true even back then those statements were heavily disputed in the media, on the Patch and via many mailouts by No City Brookhaven.
In or around early September DeKalb announced a higher HOST credit and also announced they were lowering the millage charged for Police while raising it for Fire and other services. Because of that it maybe that your taxes may be a little higher in 2013 than what they would be if in an unincorporated area in 2013, though they will still be lower than your 2011 rates the last published rates in when all those statements were made.

Will there be a residential component? To create a truly vibrant retail district it would be helpful to have more residential units within walking distance. Otherwise it could end up feeling more like the Forum on Peachtree in Norcross - which admittedly is better but thankfully not the vision of Chamblee.
Also to the author of the article I believe you mean Chamblee-Dunwoody, not Chamblee Tucker.
