Police: Missing Chamblee Girl Gave Conflicting Stories

Chamblee Police say they still don't know exactly where a missing 11-year-old girl was Tuesday night before she was found at the Chamblee MARTA station.

An 11-year-old Chamblee girl was found safely at 11:39 p.m. Tuesday at the Chamblee MARTA station after missing for approximately seven hours Tuesday evening. Chamblee Police still don't know exactly where she was or what she was doing during that time, Chamblee Police Capt. Donny Williams told Brookhaven Patch Wednesday. "She gave us conflicting versions of what happened," Williams said. The girl, Mohosana Hamid Jakiya, said she needed time away because she was dealing with something "personal in nature." Although police cannot release details of what the girl told them, Williams said they have lined up professionals for her to speak with and investigators are checking her stories. UPDATE: Missing 11-Year-Old Chamblee Girl Found Safe

Almost 50 officers searched door-to-door in Chamblee for hours before finding the girl.

An 11-year-old Chamblee girl who went missing around 4 p.m. Tuesday was found safely at the Chamblee MARTA station later that night, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. The family of the girl, Mohosana Hamid Jakiya, called police at 5:20 p.m. when the she did not arrive home from Chamblee Middle School. She ordinarily rides the bus to her home Azalea Apartments at 3500 Chamblee-Dunwoody Way. A family friend last saw Mohosana walking on Sexton Woods Drive headed towards Peachtree Boulevard, the AJC reports.
