The next Dunwoody Chamblee Parent Council meeting is set for Wednesday morning at 9:15 am at Kittredge Magnet School for High Achievers at Nancy Creek. Laura Neely is moving to Kittredge after serving as Oak Grove Elementary's principal.
Kittredge Magnet School for High Achievers has a new principal. As reported on Dunwoody School Daze, Laura Neely is moving to Kittredge after serving as principal at Oak Grove Elementary. Prior to that, she was Kittredge's assistant principal at Kittredge from 2007-2010 and a teacher there since 2001.
Kittredge is the only DeKalb County school, and one of eight in Georgia, to be recognized.
The U.S. Department of Education has announced the 2012 list of National Blue Ribbon Schools and Kittredge Magnet School is on the list. Kittredge was named an Exemplary High Performing school. “This is an outstanding honor for this school,” said Superintendent Dr. Cheryl Atkinson in a press release. “The Kittredge staff weaves high levels of academic rigor throughout every course from core subjects to extracurriculars, and as a result, the school helps children become high-level thinkers at an early age.” To get into Kittredge, students must be in the 75th percentile or above for reading and math as well as in the 85th percentile or above on the complete composite.
