Cross Keys Foundation President Named 'Community Hero'

Kim Gokce will be honored Sunday along with other Community Heroes from across DeKalb County.

Cross Keys Foundation President Kim Gokce has been named a Community Hero by the DeKalb County government. Gokce, who leads the organization that supports Cross Keys High School, will be honored at Callanwolde Fine Arts Center on Sunday with other Community Heroes from across the county, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He was also named Volunteer of the Year by the YMCA of Metro Atlanta this month as well. Gokce was also a member of the Brookhaven Commission after residents voted last year to become a city. Kim Gokce One Of Brookhaven's Leading Volunteers

The Cross Keys Foundation founder and president, and former member of the Brookhaven commission, is involved on many levels.

Kim Gokce, founding director and president of the Cross Keys Foundation, is one of Brookhaven's leading volunteers. Most recent he was honored as Volunteer of the Year by the YMCA of Metro Atlanta. The event was held at the Cobb Galleria Centre. Each year at the sponsored event, the Metro Atlanta YMCA bestows the title of “Volunteer of the Year” to acknowledge the success of volunteers who have made a significant contribution to the mission of one or more of the twenty-plus area YMCA centers and service locations in Atlanta metro. “When I was contacted about this recognition, I was sure there was some mistake — so many volunteers accomplish so much for so many children through the YMCA. Cross Keys Foundation to Host Civic Forum

The two-part event is set for Tuesday, March 19.

The Cross Keys Foundation is hosting a two-part civic forum regarding both public education and the city of Brookhaven. The event will be held in the cafeteria of Cross Keys High School at 1626 North Druid Hills Road, on Tuesday, March 19. Early arrivals will be able to interact with local civic, non-profit, and student groups between 5:30-6:00pm. The joint Civic Forum will begin at 6:00pm. The event is open to the public. The purpose of the meeting is to provide a forum for officials of the DeKalb County School District and the city of Brookhaven to hear from stakeholders in the Cross Keys community and to provide updates on critical events, initiatives, and deliberations of consequence. With the Mayor's desire for a lower millage and to provide police services on par with those currently provided I suggest the city provide the services of parks, permits/planning/zoning/code enforcement, roads and storm water.
