Permitting is nothing more that preferential treatment and an attempt to control competition. Let people vote with their wallet. The Supreme Court, after all, has determined that money represents speech.   more ›

The meeting will be held at the 57th Fighter Restaurant, 3829 Clairmont Road, from 6 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.

Developers will debut their preliminary site plan for a new and improved Chamblee Plaza on Thursday. Atlanta-based Trinity Development Group will hold the meeting at the 57th Fighter Restaurant, 3829 Clairmont Road, from 6 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. David Henzlik, managing partner of Trinity Development, said his company worked with a panel comprised of local residents to assist them with a site plan that will transition Chamblee Plaza into a city center. “The panel was an outgrowth from a town hall meeting we convened last November that was attended by upwards of 100 local residents," Henzlik told Patch earlier this month. "Since then, we’ve met regularly with seven residents of neighborhoods adjacent to Chamblee Plaza, including Huntley Hills and …

The Chamblee Business Association heard from the shopping center's new owners on Thursday, as plans were unveiled for the complex's redevelopment.

Chamblee Plaza's new owners unveiled plans for more than $3 million worth of renovations to local business executives on Thursday morning. "We hope to begin the redevelopment efforts by this summer," Dave Henzlik of Trinity Development Group told a standing-room-only audience of the Chamblee Business Association.  Trinity Development Group bought the complex for about $4 million last year. "We want a West Midtown/Virginia Highland feel to the complex," Henzlik said. Plans include: Trinity has also purchased the Citgo gas station property at the north end of the plaza. The IHOP and Chick-fil-A, he said, would remain unchanged, since both have undergone recent renovations and grand openings over the last year or so. "We also are working …

Want A Doughnut? Get A Haircut!

A Chamblee institution is giving away free doughnuts if you get a haircut at its iconic barber shop.

I remember getting my hair cut as a boy at Elliot's Barber Shop in Chamblee Plaza. Mr. Elliot was one of the first men to ever cut my hair, and my dad took me to his shop for years. A friendly "Come in" from Mr. Elliot would greet every customer as they walked into his shop. A longtime member of the local Masonic lodge, Mr. Elliot was a Chamblee icon, and I worried when he passed that his shop would fall by the wayside as so many other Chamblee Plaza businesses have done. But Elliot's Barber Shop has remained a Chamblee mainstay. James Ramlow is the owner of Elliot's now, having bought it many years ago from the Elliot family. The shop is partnering with the new owner of Chamblee Plaza, Trinity Development Group, to establish a new …

Blue Ribbon Panel Named For Chamblee Plaza Redevelopment

A group of local residents will help evaluate new stores, restaurants and shops for Chamblee Plaza.

A panel of local residents has been named by Chamblee Plaza's new owners to help in the shopping center's redevelopment plans. According to Trinity Development Group, the panel grew out of a town hall meeting the company conducted back in September 2012 regarding the vast, 20-acre complex. “The town hall meeting exceeded my expectations, not only for attendance and input from attendees, but also for the energy and enthusiasm in the room that signaled a strong desire for us to work together towards a common objective for Chamblee Plaza,” said Vince Riggio, Trinity founding partner. The company said the town hall meeting was attended by more than 100 residents. Riggio said the sheer number of advocates for Chamblee Plaza necessitated the …

Chamblee Plaza to Get Facelift

The nearly 20-acre property on Peachtree Boulevard will see new life, new property owners say.

Friday's inaugural Chamblee Plaza Food Truck Rally was only the first step of an extensive plan to breathe new life into the mostly vacant Chamblee Plaza on Peachtree Boulevard in Chamblee. The Trinity Development Group, Inc., which purchased the Chamblee Plaza earlier this year, held a fireside chat with about 75 residents on Wednesday to discuss its plans to bring new life to the development. "They (residents) gave us some really good insight to provide that sense of community," said David Henzlik, Trinity's managing partner of leasing. The fireside chat, held at the 57th Fighter Group Restaurant, was the first in a series of town hall meetings the Trinity management team plans to host. Henzlik said the developers plan to construct a …
