A ribbon cutting ceremony is set for Wednesday at noon as local businesses welcome Chamblee's newest restaurant.
The board of directors of the Chamblee Business Association is holding a ceremony at Zaxby's at noon on Wednesday, Jan. 9. Shelia Cobb Williams, the owner of the new Chamblee Zaxby's, will be on hand as well.

According to Restaurant News, the 4,000-square-foot location in the Lowes parking lot on Peachtree Boulevard can seat 92 customers. The restaurant's designated principal is Sheila Williams, who also operates an existing Zaxby's in Lithonia. The new location is the seventh for DeKalb County and the 204th in Georgia. Opening day for Chamblee's first Zaxby's has finally been announced. SAQ Enterprise, Inc., announced late Wednesday afternoon that it will open the doors to Chamblee’s first Zaxby’s on Monday, Nov. 12, 2012. The restaurant is located at 4906 Peachtree Blvd., next to Lowe’s. Zaxby’s will operate from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 10:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. It's a story we've been following for months: the seemingly never-ending construction of a new Zaxby's in Chamblee. Looks like the restaurant may get finished after all.
A few months ago we reported that construction seemed to have stopped on the new Zaxby's in Chamblee, in the Lowe's parking lot. Well, the other night I was on my way to a meeting and saw that some recent progress seemd to have been made. My hastily snapped photo shows the exterior of the building has been brick-laid. A Zaxby's representative told us some weeks back that the restaurant would be completed before the end of summer, so we'll see.

Construction has been delayed for several weeks.
Brookhaven Patch has learned that while construction on the new Chamblee Zaxby's location has been delayed, the company says the store will open sometime this summer. We heard back from the company spokesperson Friday morning, confirming the company's commitment to open the location. Those of us in the Brookhaven Patch Facebook community have been asking each other about that new Zaxby's being built in the Lowe's parking lot on Peachtree Road. So, those of us who enjoy Zaxby's chicken, fries and zalads (no, that's not a misspelling) still can look forward, it seems, to having a convenient location to visit.
