J. Max Davis and Rebecca Chase Williams were on hand for a Veterans Day ceremony earlier this week.
Brookhaven candidates J. Max Davis (mayor) and Rebecca Chase Williams (city council district 1) attended a Veterans Day ceremony on Monday, Nov. 12. The service was held at Brook Run Park in Dunwoody. Marine Corps Brigadier General Denis Shortal, who is also a Dunwoody city councilman, was also present. " I was honored to have my picture taken with General Shortal," Davis said. "I thank him and all of our veterans for protecting our freedoms through their service to our country".

'RPM: Rockin' In The Free World' has been picked up by Barnes & Noble for a December release.
A Brookhaven mom and Army widow has just written a book that has been picked up by Barnes & Noble for a Dec. 1, 2012, publication. Heather Means wrote "RPM Rockin' In The Free World," as a tribute to her husband, Ryan, after he died of cancer in 2009 ('RPM' stands for Ryan Patman Means, and one of his favorite songs, performed by Neil Young). Ryan Means joined the U.S. Army after his best friend from childhood, Adam Shelby White, was killed in the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. White was on the 105th floor of one of the World Trade Center buildings during the attacks. Yellow ribbons have been installed to adorn the campus entrance in preparation for next week's activities.
Several 10-foot-tall metal yellow ribbons have been installed at the entrance into Oglethorpe University, as the school prepares to mark Veterans Day with a week-long series of events. The ribbons were constructed and installed by the O.U. Veterans' Club. Oglethorpe will commemorate Veterans Day this year with a week-long series of events called “Our Country, Our Voices: Oglethorpe Honors Our Veterans.” The events are held in conjunction with the current exhibition “Burden of Proof: National Identity and the Legacy of War,” which runs through December 9, 2012 at the Oglethorpe University Museum of Art.
