Parties, a concert, a regatta, a fundraiser dinner and more planned for Silver Lake's big birthday festival.
This weekend marks the 100th anniversary of Silver Lake, the beautiful manmade lake created in 1911 by the Silver Lake Park Company and tucked in between the Brookhaven neighborhoods of Cambridge Park, Hampton Hall, Brittany and Oglethorpe Estates. The Silver Lake Civic Association is coordinating several events for the festivities including a 5K/Run Walk, regatta, 100th birthday party, Dam Band concert, photo contest, and a fundraiser dinner. Those interested in participating in the 5K can register on the SCLA website. The lake is maintained by the SCLA, and serves as both a sanctuary for endangered birds and foxes as well as a peaceful refuge from Atlanta's urban sprawl for its surrounding neighborhoods.
