Check out how Brookhaven locals stay cool in the 100-plus heat index Atlanta weather
Atlanta summers are known to be hot, but a heat dome parked over the eastern United States is turning the typical sweaty, sticky experience of a hot summer day into a potentially deadly one. Heat indices well above the 100s make daily activities like walking your pet, yard work, and exercising easy ways to overheat and possibly suffer from heatstroke. This week's Patch Asks features how a few Brookhaven locals cope with the temperatures, including a few tips on proper precautions for pets and children. How do you beat the heat?

Sweet treats and familiar faces this week on Brookhaven's Viewfinder!
Cake pops are the latest craze in sweet tooth satisfaction, and Brookhaven's Starbucks in Cherokee Plaza has got them on offer. Bites of cake encased in a delectable chocolate shell, and on a stick! Good luck getting your hands on the popular birthday cake pink pop! Speaking of sweets, if you're missing the heavenly white chocolate banana creme pie once served at Hudson Grill, you can now find it at the Sugar Shack next door in Brookhaven Station. Brookhaven offers great options for art enthusiasts.
After spending so much time away in holiday mode, I was feeling a bit disconnected with the art scene in Brookhaven. With that in mind, I thought it would be fun to begin the New Year with a quick tour of the local art hot spots to get a feel for this year's offerings in Brookhaven. My journey took me to Dresden Drive - the home of two very hip art studios with two very different missions. The very cute Little House of Art, located at 1418 Dresden Drive Suite 110 is an art studio for children ages 2 and up. Although the studio is for children only, parents are sometimes allowed to participate. Studio hours are Monday – Saturday, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. For information on upcoming events and classes, visit the website or contact Fareeza M. at …
