Chambliss Not Running for Reelection. Who Should Be Georgia's Next Senator?

Would Tom Price, who represents a small part of Brookhaven and Chamblee, be a good candidate for Senate? What about Democratic state lawmaker Scott Holcomb?

Citing an issue he covered with the Brookhaven Rotary last year, U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss announced on Friday that he is not seeking re-election in 2014. “This is about frustration, both at a lack of leadership from the White House and at the dearth of meaningful action from Congress, especially on issues that are the foundation of our nation’s economic health," Chambliss said in a statement. "The debt-ceiling debacle of 2011 and the recent fiscal-cliff vote showed Congress at its worst and, sadly, I don’t see the legislative gridlock and partisan posturing improving anytime soon. Chambliss Talks Elections, Debt, National Security and Social Security to Brookhaven Rotary (Video)

  U.S. Senator Saxby Chambliss, (R-GA) spoke for more than a half hour to Brookhaven Rotarians about his views on this year's presidential primary, national defense, social security and the military. I'll tell you what I think Stephanie. Saxby is a lousy Senator. He is a typical Bush republican; a statist at heart. He loves big government and selective reading of the constitution. He is unresponsive to his constituency and should be replaced by someone more fiscally conservative and less hawkish.   more ›
