Readers: 57th Fighter Group Best Place to Take Mom for Brunch

Patch readers chose this week's 'Best Of'.

57th Fighter Group was chosen as the best place to take mom for Mother's Day Brunch in this week's Readers Choice Poll. Although only a few readers voted, an overwhelming majority of those were cast for the 57th who garnered 80 percent of the votes, and Haven with one percent of the vote. The 57th Fighter Group closed for a while but reopened in 2009. Renovated and refreshed, the restaurant located DeKalb Peachtree Airport, has hosted many special groups and parties -  among the community's most memorable was the book signing of former GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain. Mother's Day Brunch Buffet at the 57th will be held May 13 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Click on the photo for the flyer in pdf.

QUESTION OF THE DAY

Who Would You Have Voted For?

Between the two candidates that visited Brookhaven in the last year, which would you have ultimately liked to see/have seen in the White House?

We're not crazy. We know Herman Cain has long dropped out of the race to the White House. But he was the first of two candidates in the 2012 election season so far to visit Brookhaven - both at PDK. Although considered an underdog by many, Cain had been gaining steady momentum before the drama of alleged sexual relationships plagued his campaign. Today Rick Santorum visited Brookhaven. And while he stepped into Newt Gingrich's territory, Santorum had a respectable crowd to help in his last-ditch attempt to garner Georgia votes before Super Tuesday. If Cain hadn't dropped out of the race, between the two candidates that visited our community, who would you likely have voted for? Tell us in comments.

Will Cain Endorsement Give Gingrich a Boost?

Georgia businessman Herman Cain backs former Georgia congressman Newt Gingrich. Does it matter?

Former GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain voiced his support for Newt Gingrich during an appearance in Florida on Saturday. The analysts at the New York Times' Five Thirty Eight blog and Real Clear Politics say Romney has a solid lead in Florida, which holds its primary on Tuesday. Has Gingrich lost his momentum? Can endorsements from Cain and Fred Thompson, who stopped in Atlanta on Thursday to stump for Gingrich, help him bounce back? What do you think? Tell us in the comments section below.

Herman Cain Stops in Brookhaven

The GOP presidential candidate joined Gov. Nathan Deal and others to discuss his plans for America

While GOP officials did not publicly endorse Herman Cain at his Sunday night book tour stop in Brookhaven, there was no doubt who attendees supported when he stepped up to the podium at the 57th Fighter Group inside the DeKalb-Peachtree Airport. Cain, the 65-year-old former CEO of Godfather's Pizza - who just one day before beat out both Texas Governor Rick Perry and Mitt Romney in the Florida straw-poll vote - took home another victory in the straw poll vote Sunday garnering well over 50 percent of the vote with 250 votes while getting nods from the National Federation of Republican Women and TeaCon 2011, a Tea Party straw poll in Illinois in the same weekend. "Two months ago, my name ID was 21 percent. Today, my name ID, based on the …

I don't think CITIZEN insulted Mr. Obama...his name was not mentioned. Fact that you assume he was specifically targeting Obama shows your left-wing views and support of the biggest socialist President we've ever had. There has been a number, you know...we could start with Woodrow Wilson and go from there. It's about time a true patriot really has a chance of becoming the President and get rid of…   more ›
