Hayride a Hit Even in Cold

Organizers say it was one of the biggest crowds to date

The Brookhaven Fields Civic Association (BFCA) hosted Thursday night its fourth annual Holiday Hayride, and despite freezing temperatures hoovering around the high 20s according to the National Weather Service, the event drawed one of its largest crowds. Carol Kemker and Jim Poulos organized the event in front of their home on Oostanaula Drive at 6 p.m.  They welcomed children, parents and neighbors of all ages to celebrate the season and fellowship. Kemker and Poulos printed spiral bound Christmas carol lyrics for all hayride participants. "The only thing we require is that the kids sing really loud so you can hear them two blocks away," said Poulos. Singing old Christmas favorites such as "Jingle Bells", "Dashing through the Snow", …
