Local Students Graduate from Georgia Tech

Four Brookhaven residents participated in the school's 244th commencement.

Brookhaven Students Earn Honors at Georgia Tech

Congratulations to Nathan Daniel and Carlton Washington.

Two students earned the distinction of faculty honors for Fall 2012 at the Georgia Institute of Technology: Undergraduate students earning a 4.00 academic average for the semester gain the distinction of Faculty Honors at Georgia Tech.

Georgia Football vs. Georgia Tech: Triple Option, Round Two

For the Bulldogs, the hype about a possible national championship has begun.

Georgia's Athletic Director Greg McGarity might have been prescient when he asserted earlier this season that Georgia Tech, and not Florida, is really the Bulldogs' biggest rival. Who would have predicted a month ago that so much would ride on this weekend's in-state matchup? Georgia survived the easier of its back-to-back triple-option challenges by defeating Georgia Southern last week. Now the Bulldogs, suddenly catapulted to No. 3 in the BCS standings, must withstand a visit from Georgia Tech before turning their attention to the SEC Championship game, likely against No. 2 Alabama. Brookhaven Residents Makes Tech's Dean List

Three Brookhaven students earned the honor during the spring semester.

Three Brookhaven residents made the made the dean's list at Georgia Tech for the spring 2012 semester. Meghan Cogan, Lydia Merz and Hannah Shore all earned the honor. Undergraduate students earning a 3.00 or higher academic average for the semester gain the distinction of being named to the Dean's List at Georgia Tech.

Ashford Park Resident Snags Top Coaching Honors

Georgia Tech assistant golf coach Christian Newton was named top golf assistant in the nation as the recipient of the 2011 Jan Strickland Award

In a mental sport like golf, you need all the advantages you can get. Now Georgia Tech’s golf team can boast another advantage: its assistant coach has been named the top assistant in the nation. Christian Newton was named the recipient of the 2011 Jan Strickland Award by the Golf Coaches Association of America. “It’s quite an honor to even be nominated,” he said. “To be in the same sentence as the rest of the coaches that were nominated is an honor. And then to go on to be the winner along with all the past winners is just something else.” Newton has been a part of the Georgia Tech coaching staff for four years, he also spent time at Alabama and Georgia Southern – where he played for four years as an undergrad – and is responsible for …
