The city hopes its inaugural event will become an annual tradition.
The inaugural Celebrate Chamblee event was held on Saturday, with dozens of vendors offering food and entertainment. The event was held along Peachtree Road, near Chamblee City Hall and Antique Row. Organizers said they hope it becomes an annual event, according to CBS Atlanta. Chamblee City Manager and CEO Niles Ford told the Neighbor Newspapers the event was designed to showcase the city's diverse ethnic demographics through through cultural activities and offerings.

With almost 20 vendors signed up to participate, Celebrate Chamblee will be held on Saturday, May 19, from 11 am to 4 pm. The event will be held in the area around Chamblee City Hall at 5468 Peachtree Road. Visitors will have the opportunity to take part in salsa lessons and line dancing, and enjoy mariachi band performances, Asian drumming and traditional Chinese and Taiwanese dancing. Pop, R&B music will be performed by area groups. “Celebrate Chamblee has something for all ages — music, arts and crafts, food, a kids’ play area and much more,” said City Manager and CEO Niles Ford in a press release. “Bring your lawn chairs, blankets and the whole family for a full day of fun and celebration.” The event is free and open to the public …

Planned events like this is exactly the difference between living in a city and just living in "north Dekalb county" A city can plan and shape it's image through cultural events, urban planning and zoning, etc. When you are just "north Dekalb county" your neighborhood has no identity, no cohesion.   more ›
