The annual event to benefit Ashford Park Elementary School is being sponsored by a number of local businesses.
The 2013 Brookhaven Bolt will be held Saturday, May 18, in what has become an annual event to benefit Ashford Park Elementary School. Brookhaven Dental Associates is this year's presenting sponsor of the race. Wealth Management is the event's gold sponsor; Big Peach Running Co., Todd K. Banister, and Dick's Sporting Goods are silver sponsors; Brookhaven Bank, Skyland Church and Blue Door Building Co. are medallion sponsors; and supporting sponsors are Tom Sullivan, Ashford Park Elementary PTA, Brookhaven Beer Fest and Eye Haven. More than 1,200 runners participated in this year's contest.
The 2012 Brookhaven Bolt raised $35,000 for Ashford Park Elementary, organizers said Tuesday. The race also said more than 1,200 runners participated, making it the largest Brookhaven Bolt to date. On Sunday, Oct. 7, another Brookhaven-based race will be held, the Allstate Life InsuranceSM Atlanta 13.1 marathon, which begins and ends in Town Brookhaven.

The event was held this past Saturday to benefit Ashford Park Elementary School.
The 2012 Brookhaven Bolt brought thousands of runners and supporters to Village Place and Dresden Drive Saturday morning, as the annual event to benefit Ashford Park Elementary School was held. Three-time defending Bolt champion Leonel Ayala was the winner in the men's division, finishing the 5K race at 16:25. Allison Dublinski was the female winner, with a time of 18:43.

Brookhaven's big race is tomorrow, and here are some important facts and need-to-know information.
The 2012 Brookhaven Bolt is set for Saturday, May 19, with the race kicking off promptly at 8 am. Here's what you need to know: How long is the course? 3.1 miles, or 5 kilometers Road Closures Caldwell Road between Redding and Ashford will be closed from 7-11. Cravenridge Road from top of Tryon Road to Pamela Road will be closed from 5-:15 am. Restrooms Along The Course Go before you come to the race! There are no restrooms along the course. Restrooms will be available at the start of the race and at the finish line. Water will be available at one water station located near the 1.5 mile mark, and at the finish line. This is the second year the Buckhead school has been involved with the race.
The Goddard School, an early childhood learning and development center in Buckhead, is entering its inaugual year as presenting sponsor for this year's Brookhaven Bolt. "We did have a sponsorship level last year but this is our first year as presenting sponsor," said school owner Kellen Stennett. "My family and I live in Brookhaven and we've been aware of the Bolt since the beginning through neighborhood associations and the like." Besides being the main sponsor, Stennett said the school will be at the race, "handing out water bottles and toys for kids and things like that. "We'll also be conducting a raffle to give away six gift certificates to Pretty Please Childrens Store," Stennett added. The Goddard School celebrated its second …

Want to register online for this weekend's race? You have till 9 pm tonight.
Online registration closes Wednesday night at 9 pm for the 2012 Brookhaven Bolt. But in-person registration will continue at the Big Peach Running Company through Friday. And participants can pick up their race packets from 4-8 pm at store. The USATE-certified 5K race will be held Saturday, May 19. Male and female winners of the race will receive a $100 Dicks Sporting Goods gift cards as well as Mizuno shoes. All proceeds go to Ashford Park Elementary School. Brookhaven Patch will have regular features and updates on the Bolt through the rest of this week and into race day.

Lottery registration for the Peachtree Road Race is midnight Thursday, March 22. Entrants who sign up online will receive an email on or before March 26 notifying them if they were accepted for the race. While you're at it, be sure to register for our local 5K, the Brookhaven Bolt, which benefits Ashford Park Elementary School. Registration is $25 until May 13 Then $30 until May 17. Online registration closes at 11:59 P.M. on May 17.
