Preparations are already underway for the 2013 extravaganza.
The ninth Brookhaven Arts Festival was held recently, and the Brookhaven Arts Alliance is already hard at work preparing for next year's big, 10 annual event. For its 10th anniversary the group has created a contest for its commemorative poster/t-shirt: The winner will be guaranteed entry into the 2013 Brookhaven Arts Festival (application fee waived, booth fee still applies) and receive a 2013 commemorative poster.

Celebrate the arts right here in Brookhaven at the Ninth Annual Brookhaven Arts Festival, sponsored by the Brookhaven Arts Alliance, a nonprofit organization that provides art education to children in the Brookhaven and surrounding area. Artwork from more than 125 vendors, including many local artists and others from the southeast region, will be featured at this year's festival. Festival attendees will notice a range of new talent and established artists this year. Some of the varieties include glass, fiber, folk art, jewelry, paintings, pottery, and photography. "The ink is Black: The page is White" is a pop-up exhibit presented in conjunction with the citywide event, Atlanta Celebrates Photography and featuring black and white photography.
Deadline for submissions is June 10.
All artists are invited to apply to for a chance to showcase at the 9th Annual Brookhaven Arts Festival scheduled for Oct. 20-21, 2012 sponsored by the Brookhaven Arts Alliance (BAA). Interested artists can download the application from the BAA website, complete it and have it postmarked by June 10, 2012. A jury will be formed to ensure the 2012 Brookhaven Arts Festival retains the quality of its fine arts and fine crafts cultural event. Wine connoisseurs and novices alike strolled between four different businesses enjoying many different wine specials and food parings on Saturday afternoon. Participating restaurants included Kaleidoscope Bistro & Pub, Verde Taqueria, Pour Wine Market and Tasting Room, and Library Coffee Company. This was a Pre-Event for the Brookhaven Arts Fest with a portion of the proceeds from Saturday's Art Stroll benefiting the Brookhaven Arts Alliance.

It's not easy being a new artist, and for Christy Murry juggling her day job as an administrative assistant and her passion for capturing daily life though her lens, is hardly a cakewalk. But she loves it. Featuring mostly traditional scenes from nature and objects in a guerrilla-style manner, she rarely stages scenes or edit photos. What's interesting about her work is that she finds most of her subject matter during her regular daily routines. She focuses on capturing interesting colors and textures that attract the eye, sometimes even finding unique and rare objects in the process. Exciting Photography Exhibition showing at the new gallery in Town Brookhaven through October.
Brookhaven Art Alliance (BAA) will open a temporary art gallery in Town Brookhaven on Sept. 23. The Brookhaven Art Gallery will present the photography exhibition, On Edge: Beyond Editorial, curated by Denise Jackson and in combination with Atlanta Celebrates Photography. Although only temporary, the opening of this new gallery in Brookhaven is a huge step for BAA. Successfully achieving this goal could bring the community closer to obtaining a permanent gallery for patrons. This would bump up programming for BAA from two annual events to year-round exhibitions. It would also provide art culture and education into the community for Brookhaven residents and visitors. It may even encourage local artists to show more work and get involved …
Deonna Fish of North Carolina is chosen to represent this year’s Brookhaven Arts Festival
After reviewing last year’s art festival submissions, Brookhaven Arts Alliance (BAA) chose the finalist poster winner to represent the 2011 art festival. Deona Fish, an artist from North Carolina, won first prize for her 2D artwork in painting that displays energetic and colorful designs that mimic the whimsical nature of childhood nostalgia. The artwork selected by BAA will be premiered to the public in September and will be featured across all Brookhaven Arts Festival promotional gear for this coming Festival scheduled for October 15 and 16. The Commemorative Poster winner is chosen by an independent committee selected from BAA members.
