The event is Saturday, March 23, and proceeds go to benefit the school.

The Ashford Park School Education Foundation is holding its 2013 Spring Social at the home of Caroline & Grant Campbell, 1493 Bates Court, on Saturday, March 23 at 7 pm.   The price is $30 per person and dinner & cocktails will be served.   All proceeds will benefit student enrichments programs at Ashford Park School.

Increased Police Presence at Ashford Park Elementary

The administration has partnered with the North DeKalb precinct to provide increased visibility at the school as a result of the Newtown shootings.

Ashford Park Elementary has partnered with the North DeKalb Police precinct to provide an additional police presence in the wake of the Newtown, CT, shootings. "In the wake of the events that occurred at Newtown, the officers at the North Dekalb Precinct and APS Administration came together to form an action plan for the safety and security of our children," the school said, in a Saturday email to parents. "As a result of the meeting, we have partnered with the Precinct and they have pledged to make their presence known both inside and outside of our school." Ashford Park Receives Grant for Language Immersion Project

The money will go toward the funding of the state's first German and French immersion programs.

Ashford Park Elementary is one of three DeKalb schools that will have its own language immersion program and the first-ever in the state. The other DeKalb schools receiving grants are Rockbridge and Evansdale elementaries. A 2003 study by the College Board found that students who study a second language for four or more years score higher - by as much as 100 points per section - than their peers on the SATs. The grants are being awarded by the Georgia Department of Education. Through the grants, DCSD will have the first German and French immersion programs in the state. Rockbridge Elementary and Evansdale Elementary were awarded the grant for French, and Ashford Park Elementary was awarded a grant for German. DCSD received the most grants…

Update: Ashford Park Elementary Paving Bricks Located

The bricks were part of a fundraising program for a major school improvement project.

About 200 brick pavers that had been removed from the grounds of Ashford Park Elementary School have been found. The Ashford Park School Education Foundation was selling custom, personalized bricks to benefit its latest school improvement project. Over the Thanksgiving break, Ashford Park Elementary School's current walkway was removed and replaced with red bricks. The foundation is overseeing the construction of a new front walkway at the school's entrance. During summer 2013, a new brick plaza at the carpool destination along Tryon Road will also be installed.
