Weekend Planner: Brookhaven Bolt, Kickboxing and More

A list of things to do this weekend in and around the Brookhaven and Chamblee areas.

  1. The 2013 Brookhaven Bolt 5K: Saturday, 8 a.m. All proceeds donated directly to Ashford Park Elementary School. The race course is USATF Certified and has been called challenging but fair by previous runners. Winding through the beautiful Ashford Park neighborhood in the new city of Brookhaven, the race has become one of the largest in the area and an annual family event to be enjoyed by everyone.
  2. Pee-Wee Run & Mini Carnival: The Auditory-Verbal Center announced will host their first Annual Pee-Wee Run and Mini Carnival on Saturday, May 18. The day will kick off with a short run for local elementary school students (K-fifth-graders) in the metro-Atlanta area and end with a carnival and informational health fair for the young racers and their families.
  3. Kickboxing for a Cause: Elite Edge Training Center in Chamblee will be hosting a Kickboxing for a Cause event this Saturday, May 18 at 10 a.m. (3550 Broad St, Chamblee, GA 30341). The money raised from this event will go to support two organizations; CARE for AIDS and Team in Training, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
  4. Brookhaven Farmers Market: Saturday. At its new location.
  5. Oak Groove Festival: Sunday afternoon in Oak Grove. Patch is going to be there, practically every restaurant and joint in Oak Grove is going to be there. It's the community's first community festival. Check it out.
  6. CAC's Food 'n Fun Festival: Sunday in Sandy Springs. Enjoy a fun-filled day at Morgan Falls Athletic Complex for the entire family with Food, Fun & Games for all! And help the Community Assistance Center raise awareness, food and funds to combat hunger and homelessness in our community.
