Food Trucks Roll into Chamblee Friday

The food truck craze hits Chamblee on Friday with the Chamblee Plaza Food Truck Rally, which continues every Friday through December.

Here they come!

Food trucks will be rolling into Chamblee this Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the first Chamblee Plaza Food Truck Rally at 5520 Peachtree Blvd. in Chamblee.

The Atlanta Street Food Coalition, in partnership with the plaza's owner, Trinity Development Company, Inc., organized the event, which will be held at the plaza every Friday through December.

"We're going to keep coming as long as people keep coming," said Greg Smith, president of the Atlanta Street Food Coalition.

Smith said it's recently become easier for food trucks to get permits in DeKalb County.

"We're pretty excited to be cracking DeKalb...The location is exactly the type of location we want to be serving with food trucks," Smith explained.

A rotating crew of about eight to 10 food trucks will be parked at the food truck rally each week.

Although there is not yet a confirmed list of food trucks for Friday, Westside Creamery and Hail Cesar are sure to be there.

The Chamblee Plaza Food Truck Rally will be unique in that it will have an international market-feel.

"We really want to do something pretty interesting there...This is the first time we've tried to do something like this," Smith said. "We're taking baby steps right now and going with what we know. Over time, we'll expand."
