Murphey Candler Little League Holds Opening Day
Award-winning broadcaster Ernie Johnson, who played his first baseball at Murphey Candler, was on hand for the festivities.
Murphey Candler Boys Little League kicked off its 55th season Friday night with ceremonies at the fields.
Nearly 1,000 boys, ages 4-12 will play ball this season in the park in newly formed Brookhaven.
It was a colorful night with a color guard, pledge of allegiance and hats thrown in the air.

Special guests included Braves sportscaster Ernie Johnson, who played is first baseball games at Murphey Candler, and Brookhaven Mayor J Max Davis, who grew up in the Murphey Candler area, and whose son plays there now.
Davis threw out the first pitch.
