Lady Petrels Get Season Underway in "Eat a Peach" Classic

The Petrels carded a team score of 348 with sophomores Chelsea Gatterdam (shot 84, tied for 23rd place) and Tori Van Wyen (shot 86, tied for 26th place).

The women's golf team teed up their fall season yesterday at the "Eat a Peach" Collegiate Classic hosted by Mercer University at the Oakview Golf & Country Club in Macon, Ga.

The event features only schools from the state of Georgia and includes Division I, II and III representation. Oglethorpe completed round one in seventh place among 10 schools. Among local teams, the Petrels were 1-shot behind SCAC-Atlanta, 8-shots behind Piedmont College and 18-shots better than Berry College, a future conference rival.

The Petrels carded a team score of 348 with sophomores Chelsea Gatterdam (shot 84, tied for 23rd place) and Tori Van Wyen (shot 86, tied for 26th place). Playing in their first collegiate event, freshman Jordan Krahn carded an 88, sophomore Laurin Halstead shot 90 and freshman Erin McPhee totaled 98 to round out the Petrel scoring.
