A Request to Sandy Murray

Please respect our decision to have your opponent's sign in our yard

Ms. Murray:

We kindly ask that you instruct your campaign manager, Tim Alborg, to stop placing your signs IN FRONT of other candidates' signs which have been placed on private property.  We made an educated decision to give our support to Mr. Davis and place Mr. Davis' sign by our front step on Dresden Drive this past weekend.  This morning, as we were returning from dropping our kids off at school, we witnessed Mr. Alborg at our front step placing your sign IN FRONT of Mr. Davis' sign without our permission.  Not only that, but he decided to also block the sign we had placed in support of our pick for District 3 City Council.  Furthermore, he got defensive and questioned us when we instructed him to remove the sign.  We trust that you will understand our concern with regards to Mr. Alborg's actions and will address these concerns with him.  We have one more day until the majority of these signs leave our properties and roadsides.  Let's please respect each other's property and support of specific candidates without playing these games.

Hi Shawn. It was good to see you this morning. I hope things are going well with the Project Management and Communications Committee of the Governor's Commission. Unfortunately your recollection is incorrect. I did not place a sign "in front" of J. Max Davis' sign, but right next to it because I incorrectly assumed that the area was a right-of-way. (It was at the corner of an intersection on Dresden. There are other intersections nearby with many other campaigns' signs up.) As soon as you opened your front door and instructed me that it was private property, I personally apologized to you (your wife was not there as you incorrectly mention) and left with the sign. I hope this clarifies this incident for everyone.

Tim: The signs are at the foot of my front steps which are 25+ yards from the intersection of Dresden Drive and Consauga Avenue. How can you "incorrectly assume" that is a right-of-way? And yes, the sign was blocking any vision of Mr. Davis' sign for traffic coming East on Dresden. With regards to my wife, she saw what you were trying to do and had me come out to tell you to pull the sign. Respect people's property AND public property, Tim, and please save the excuses for someone else.

Thom, Thank you for another useless non sequitur.

I hope Sandy plans to go clean up all the sings she has placed on public property as well, they are ALL over!

Mr. Thom, I understand there is a lot of folks in Dunwoody against the round-a-bout and the loop road rework. Any thoughts? Please pass the yellow mustard!

"I incorrectly assumed that the area was a right-of-way" Can I ask why in the world that would be better? It is against the law to put signs in the public right of way. I would assume someone with a campaign for Mayor's office would know better. Here is the DeKalb county code section. Sec. 21-11. - Prohibited signs. The following types of signs are prohibited throughout the unincorporated county: (1) Signs on the dedicated right-of-way of any public road other than publicly owned or maintained signs and signs pertaining to railroad crossings. The only thing is clarifies to me is why there are so many Sandy Murray signs cluttering up public areas in our city. I guess if you can't get homeowners to put the signs up, might as well put them up illegally.

Kathie, Signs is actually spelled SIGNS. FYI. The G is silent. As far as cleaning up signs, I am sure J Max will have Clayton and Phil pick them up as they have been. Please pass along that they should recycle them. It's better for the environment thatta way.

I can't believe Murray would have her campaign manager putting up illegal signs. is it too hard to ask a homeowner for permission? Maybe it is when you campaign is so negative. Kevin Meaders and Erik Stevens are as also guilty as Ms. Murray with illegal signs, just not as widespread. People do notice.

Sandy can pick up her own damn signs Pro Quo... And u can move off that recliner and help her before more fines come to her campaign. Of course, she's never paid up on other fines for disclosures.

@ Tim Alborg: I guess when your candidate can't find enough homeowners to agree to place signs in their yard you resort to placing them in the public 'right-of-way'. And Tim, how about the signs you placed in my two elderly neighbors front yards without their permission. You can come get them from their trash.

Wish I could say I'm suprised that yet another conversation here has deteriorated into petty comments and nit picking about insignificant spelling errors... But I'm not. Sandy is putting sings on public land.. and she should be fined.

Most of the signs I have seen for this election are in a public right of way. None of my neighbors have signs in their yards. Robocalls, snailmail, and signs are antiquated and annoying. I turned my fax machine to auto-answer my home phone for the past month!

I have a volunteer crew removing all signs on the right of ways--including Sandy Murray's--this weekend. We are starting on Dresden. Come join us.
HamBurger November 08, 2012 at 03:45 AM
Mr. Phil, what time? I would like to assist! And, if you do not see any Sandy Murray signs, will we concentrate on other candidate signs? Such as J. Max Davis signs? Or, is he exempt? Will Thom be assisting us? I know signs are one of his pet peeves! Hey! I have us covered for Cheerwine and special hamburgers!
