Montgomery Elementary's Walk to School Day Promotes Healthy Lifestyles

Montgomery Elementary School PTA Health and Wellness Committee organized the event.

With a nationwide focus on defeating childhood obesity, Montgomery Elementary School did its part this fall by starting a new tradition that encourages healthy living and promoting safer routes to school.

Hundreds of Montgomery Elementary School - donned in their blue tie-dyed "Proud of ME" t-shirts - students participated in "Walk to School Day" - the first event sponsored by the school. A second event will be hosted in the Spring.

Families met at designated meeting locations to walk to school together, and students who rode the bus or were dropped off at the school participated in the program by walking on the school’s walking track, newly refurbished by Concorde Fire, until the start of the school day.
