The administration has partnered with the North DeKalb precinct to provide increased visibility at the school as a result of the Newtown shootings.

Ashford Park Elementary has partnered with the North DeKalb Police precinct to provide an additional police presence in the wake of the Newtown, CT, shootings.

"In the wake of the events that occurred at Newtown, the officers at the North Dekalb Precinct and APS Administration came together to form an action plan for the safety and security of our children," the school said, in a Saturday email to parents. "As a result of the meeting, we have partnered with the Precinct and they have pledged to make their presence known both inside and outside of our school."

The school said that officers from the precinct spoke at a recent faculty meeting.
