Brookhaven Rotary Club Raises $85,000 for Local Charity

The club raised the money during its Inaugural Service Above Self Invitational.

The Rotary Club of Brookhaven raised more than $85,000 in cash and in-kind donations during its inaugural Service Above Self Invitational held Monday, May 23.

Magellan Health Services led the fundraising efforts as the General Level sponsor of the charity golf tournament. The proceeds, according to a press release, will benefit  Shepherd Center’s SHARE Initiative (Shaping Hope And Recovery Excellence), which cares for military servicemen and women with mild traumatic brain injury.

“The men and women who serve in our military make many sacrifices and put themselves in harms way each time they put on a uniform,” said the group's president Stan Kaminski.  “The Rotary Club of Brookhaven is proud to have partnered with Shepherd Center and sincerely thanks each of our sponsors, golfers and members of our club who worked so hard to make this tournament a huge success.”
