Ashford Park Elementary Locked Down On Monday

A suspicious person was spotted near the school in the morning.

was placed on lockdown early Monday morning after a suspicious person was sighted near the school with a gun.

In a letter sent home to Ashford Park parents Monday afternoon, Interim Principal Rosalind McIntrye said the school was placed on lockdown from 9:15-10:00 am after a 911 call “reported a suspicious person near the school who appeared to have a gun.”

No one was apprehended, McIntrye said in the letter.

“Five DeKalb County police officers and a DeKalb School District resource officer responded to the call,” the letter said. “The resource officer said the patrol officers would remain in the area throughout the day.”

The letter also said all outside activity was suspended for the rest of the day.
