Well - it's been 4 weeks since my first host daughter arrived from Indonesia, and 4 days since my second host daughter arrived from Pakistan. What a whirlwind of activity and adventures!
I am so blessed to have them both. Things they say and do - so innocent - remind me that there are so many perspectives beyond my own. A story for your enjoyment:
The first weekend that Ratu was here (from Indonesia), we were running around trying to get everything done so she was ready for school that Monday. Purchasing school supplies, clothes, and I'm not sure what else - it was a blur.

What I do remember - we were in the car, it had been a while since breakfast, and Ratu asked me "Mom, I'm hungry. Can we get a something from McDonalds?" It was easy, so we slipped into the drive thru.
"What do you want, Ratu?"
"A chicken sandwich"

"OK - and what do you want with that"
"Rice"
"Rice? they don't have rice at McDonalds here!"
We both laughed at how easily we assumed that McDonalds was the same around the world - Just like everything else, there is local flavor everywhere! In the end, fries were just fine!
