Apartment Rezoning Deferred for 60 Days

After a two-hour meeting, the Brookhaven Zoning Board of Appeals voted to defer a decision on a major apartment rezoning application until May 15, 2013.
Almost 150 people attended this past Wednesday night's meeting, the Brookhaven Post reports.
At issue is a proposed development on Peachtree Road near Historic Brookhaven. The Reporter Newspapers said the property owner, Teresa Tomlinson, wants to develop the roughly two-acre site, which lies on the DeKalb-Fulton line, into a six-story, 176-unit complex.

The Historic Brookhaven Neighborhood Association and the Brookhaven Peachtree Community Alliance object to the proposed building's density.
The zoning board asked both the developer and neighborhood groups to try to reach a compromise over the next 60 days.
