Qualifying For DeKalb Elections Begins Wednesday

Brookhaven has two Democrats who may seek the same House seat.


The DeKalb County Board of Registration & Elections will begin qualifying for the 2012 general primary and nonpartisan elections at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 23. Qualifying ends at noon on Friday, May 25.

In Brookhaven, state Reps. Elena Parent and Scott Holcomb , and will have to run against each other to earn the right to appear in the November general election.

Declaration of intent, campaign contributions and financial disclosure reports are all now handled through the Georgia Government Transparency and Campaign Finance Commission.

County partisan candidates (CEO, commissioners, chief magistrate, clerk of superior court, sheriff, tax commissioner and solicitor) will qualify with their respective county party. The DeKalb Democratic Party will be qualifying at the Northlake in the Latte Room at 4156 LaVista Road in Tucker.

The DeKalb Republican Party will be qualifying at their headquarters, 3583-G Chamblee Tucker Road. Nonpartisan county candidates (probate judge, state court judges and school board) will qualify with the Voter Registration & Elections Department at 4380 Memorial Drive, Suite 300, in Decatur.
