Pink Pony Attorney Points to Sandy Springs as Cautionary Tale

Sandy Springs has spent more than $160,000 on fighting local strips clubs, Aubrey Villines said.

If the city of Brookhaven continues to fight adult businesses it could end up like Sandy Springs – in a protracted legal battle costing more than $160,000 in legal fees, an attorney representing the Pink Pony strip club said this week.

Sandy Springs has spent $164,808 in legal costs fighting strip clubs since 2009, attorney Aubrey Villines said at Tuesday's Brookhaven City Council meeting, according to Reporter Newspapers.

From the story:

Sandy Springs in 2006 adopted an ordinance similar to the one Brookhaven adopted banning alcohol sales in businesses that allow nude dancing. Sandy Springs, like Brookhaven, was sued by local strip clubs. The litigation is ongoing, and in 2011 the city of Sandy Springs sued the strip clubs for alleged violations of city code.

β€œThe Sandy Springs club is still in existence,” Villines told the Brookhaven City Council.
