New Sidewalk Will Provide Easier Access to Dresden Drive

With the growth and development of the shops and restaurants along Dresden Drive, the Ashford Park Civic Association has been working to provide a more pedestrian friendly connection from our neighborhood to Village Place on Dresden.  To be able to walk to this unique commercial district has become a big draw for families looking to relocate to Ashford Park and, as such, has had a positive impact on our home values.

As you may remember, we partnered with DeKalb County and the PATH Foundation several years ago to provide the wood bridge from Valvadere to Camile to improve the pedestrian access from to the east side of Village Place.

I am happy to announce that we have again partnered with DeKalb County, with the strong support of Commissioners Rader and Gannon, to provide a sidewalk along Caldwell Road from Green Meadow to the existing sidewalk at the rear of Village Place (near Library Coffee Company).  This 5-foot-wide sidewalk will allow a more pedestrian friendly route from Green Meadow - a neighborhood street with relatively little traffic - to Village Place without having to walk in Caldwell Road.

The sidewalk is scheduled to be installed during the next several weeks and, hopefully, we will have clear pedestrian access from Ashford Park to the west end of Village Place before the end of this month.  

If you travel this route regularly please be patient with the DeKalb County crews as they work to install the sidewalk.  Undoubtedly, they will need to close lanes periodically for the few days it will take to install the sidewalk and traffic in the immediate area will be impacted during this time.
