Missing Brookhaven girl found

Police said the girl was located Sunday by Chamblee Police.

Celia Hinojosa, the 13-year-old Chamblee Middle School student reported missing last week, was located by Chamblee Police Sunday evening, said the DeKalb County Police Department.

A friend of the family contacted Patch and said, "Celia is home safe with her family".

The family friend, who did not want to be identified, said that a resident saw Celia's picture on a flier and notified police of where they thought she may have been. Police then responded to the location and found her with friends, the family friend said.

Last week, DeKalb County Police issued a Be On the Lookout (BOLA) alert for Celia who before Sunday, was last seen walking down Apple Valley Road toward Dresden Drive on Feb. 9 at 8:30 a.m. That is the time, family members said, she is normally on the school bus. Parish said last week that the case didn't meet the criteria to issue an Amber Alert so they classified Celia as a runaway.

DeKalb County Police said officers located Celia at 5:48 p.m. Sunday. DCPD Spokesperson Mekka Parish said the county's case is closed and that the Chamblee Police is investing further into the matter.
