Local Zonings Coming Up Before DeKalb County

Several recently filed applications are in or near the Brookhaven and Chamblee communities.

Thanks to the Drew Valley Civic Association's zoning committee, Patch learned about several recently filed zoning applications that have been filed in the Brookhaven and Chamblee communities.

First is an application for a late-night pool hall & karaoke place near Plaza Fiesta on Buford Highway. James Stowell, Jr., is seeking a special land use permit for a late-night establishment in a 3,000-square-foot space of Little Saigon Shopping Center.

The establishment would be within 1,500 feet of residentially zoned property.

Second, it seems that a new McDonald's is being proposed for the strip shopping center across from the Kroger at Skye Hill, a location bordered by two properties: one on Buford Highway and the other on Clairmont Road.

Finally, Ashok Hand has applied for a special land use permit for a 2,778-square-foot liquir store in the North Hills Shopping Center.

Upcoming meetings in which these zonings will be discussed are:

  • Community Council: Wednesday, June 20, 6:30 pm, Mason Mill Recreation Center
  • Planning Commission: Tuesday, July 10, 6:30pm, Maloof Auditorium
  • Board of Commissioners: Tuesday, July 24, 6:30pm. Maloof Auditorium
