House Committee Changes Proposed Brookhaven name to City of Ashford
The committee voted 8-4
The House Governmental Affairs Committee voted to change the name in HB 636 from the City of Brookhaven to the City of Ashford.
In an 8-4 vote in favor of the amendment introduced during today's proceedings at 1 p.m., the name is a direct response to concernse from residents living in Historic Brookhaven who argued that the community already has a recognized identity.
Rep. Mike Jacobs disagreed with the change.
