Gebbia Looking to Privatize City Trash Service

The District 4 councilman said resident savings could be as high as 40 percent.

Brookhaven City Councilman Joe Gebbia is leading an effort to privatize the city's trash collection service.

The District 4 representative and other council members listened to presentations from three sanitation companies Monday, according to The Brookhaven Post.

From the post:

Gebbia has been looking into a 500 home pilot program with a private sanitation contractor in hopes that they can offer the same or enhanced service at a lower cost to Brookhaven citizens. Gebbia said the savings could be as high as 40% depending on which company is used.
