Ga Power to Charge Brookhaven Residents a New Franchise Fee

Brookhaven customers will be charged retroactively from March.

Georgia Power customers in Brookhaven will notice a change in their bill as the company will start charging a citywide franchise fee.

Signed in March 2013, the company just recently mailed letters to residents informing them that they will be billed retroactively dating back to March.

Georgia Power's franchise fee for DeKalb residents was 1.1 percent, but will go up 1.8 percent to 2.9 for Brookhaven residents. Follow this link or see the attached PDF for a Q & A from the city explaining the changes, as well as a sample bill.
