District 3 City Council Candidate Forum TONIGHT

Hear the candidates explain their positions on important issues and have the chance to ask pressing questions of your own.

The Historic Brookhaven Neighborhood Association is inviting all residents of District 3 of the City of Brookhaven to attend a forum for candidates vying for the District 3 Brookhaven City Council seat.

The purpose of the forum is to allow candidates another chance to explain their positions and opinions on issues relevant to the formation of the new City of Brookhaven and how they would govern if elected.

Questions will be presented from the moderator for all candidates to answer. Then questions from the floor will be welcomed.

The forum will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at St. Martin's Episcopal Middle School atrium at 3110 Ashford-Dunwoody Road.

Was not able to make it to St. Martin's tonight. Can anyone offer some highlights? With 8 still left in this race we are obviously headed for a run-off, so who will those 2 be?

Shawn, Only 7 candidates participated. I do not think Ben Podgor intended to run a very public campaign via his own words. While I definitely have my favorites I have now seen debates of all the candidates except District 4, which I regret. While I have eliminated several candidates in Districts 1 and 2 as candidates I would not recommend, in district 3 while I clearly have preferences and would personally not vote for someone who did not vote for the formation of the city all seven candidates have excellent backgrounds and things that stand out in their favor. This will clearly be the toughest choice in the city as I would say that there are 5 candidates that stand up strongly to what I feel is important in a city council representative. Since there was so much going on and so many governors commission volunteers were not able to make many of the candidate events I think we really need to have one more big night where every candidate can speak to the public about their basic concerns and background. Most of the other cities had a big event like this with all the candidates. Thom

Thank you, Thom. I agree that there are a lot of good people running in District 3 with impressive, and diverse, backgrounds. I am confident that we will be well represented on the City Council and look forward to working with whomever takes that seat to make Brookhaven the great city we know it will become. SMK
