UPDATE: Clairmont Road Remains Closed for Thursday's Evening Rush Hour

Workers hope to have the water main repaired at some point Thursday night.

UPDATEΒ  [7:27 p.m.]: Crews opened the northbound lane of Clairmont Road shortly after 5 p.m., the City of Brookhaven said Thursday evening.

FIRST POST [4:45 p.m.]: Clairmont Road will remain closed into the evening Thursday because of new complications in repairing the ruptured water main.

DeKalb County Water and Sewer Department crews have been on scene since Wednesday afternoon when a water main burst in the 2900 block of Clairmont Road in Brookhaven near Century Center. As of 4:15 p.m., crews remain on scene and hope to have the pipes repaired Thursday night, but no timeline is available.

Traffic is being detoured. Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area.
