Cityhood Bill Missing from Day 40 Calendar

Don't worry though, it's on the agenda.

If you've had an opportunity to review the House Calendar for Day 40 of the 2012 Legislative Session, and if you've been following the developments of the Brookhaven Cityhood Bill, then you've probably recognized something significant on the document - HB 636 is missing.

Don't panic.

As State Rep. Elena Parent (D-81) explained, HB 636 is still on the day's agenda as part of what is referred to as the "Further Action List". This list is a three-page document listing legislation up for consideration.

"It doesn't need to be on the list," Parent explained. "At some point tonight, when they allow it, Representative Jacobs will move to pass."

Parent said the bill will not be up for debate, rather Jacobs will present the bill and move to pass it. Members of the House will either vote to agree or disagree with the legislation as amended by the Senate, Parent said.

If the bill fails, however, it will die in the House.
