City to Swear In New Police Chief Tuesday

Mayor J. Max Davis will swear in Chief Gary Yandura at Tuesday's city council meeting.

Brookhaven Mayor J. Max Davis will swear in the police chief and deputy chief at Tuesday’s City Council meeting.

Chief Gary Yandura and Deputy Chief Ron Freeman started work April 15. The two chiefs are now working on hiring a command staff and will begin recruiting officers in the next few weeks.

Yandura, a 38-year veteran law enforcement officer, previously served as chief of police in Hiram and College Park. Freeman spent 26 years with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Department and recently served as commander of Forsyth’s South Precinct.

The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Brookhaven Municipal Court, 2 Corporate Boulevard., Suite 125, Brookhaven.
