City Manager: Brookhaven Still Negotiating With County on Police, Parks Services
The city offered Tuesday to pay $3.1 million for police and parks services.
The City of Brookhaven continues to negotiate with DeKalb County over payment for the county's public safety and parks and recreation services since the city debuted in December, the city manager said Tuesday.
The city offered Monday to pay the county $3.1 million for seven months of police protection and 11 months of parks maintenance, City Manager Marie Garrett said during a press conference regarding the city's new police department. The city also offered to take over its parks in September, cutting the county's service of those parks by two months.
The city and the county have been debating the cost of those services for several months, and the county recently threatened to sue Brookhaven if it did not pay nearly $3.9 million for those services.
