City Council Defers Alcohol Pouring, Sales Times Ordinance Vote

The city council will reconsider the ordinance at its Aug. 20 meeting.

The Brookhaven City Council voted Tuesday to defer consideration of an ordinance that could have restricted alcohol pouring and sales times across the city.

The council plans to return to the ordinance at its Aug. 20 meeting after it reviews a report from the city's police chief regarding the necessity of the council's need to look at the issue. Council members also said they wanted to give ample time to hear from business owners and the public.

A replay of the council meeting can be seen on the city's website.
