Century Center Still Wants to be Part of Brookhaven

Court halts Chamblee annexation of Highwood Properties Complex.

Despite a vote by residents to annex Century Center into Chamblee, the owner of the disputed property still wants to be annexed into Brookhaven.

The city of Brookhaven voted in October to annex the Highwood Properties Complex, but instead a referendum on Election Day allowed Chamblee to bring Century Center into its folds. Once the referendum passed, Brookhaven stopped its funding of the court battle over the property.

However, the Georgia Court of Appeals ruled last week that Chamblee cannot annex the property, and Highwood Properties is arguing that the referendum cannot stop it from becoming part of Brookhaven, according to an article in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
