Century Center Fight Heads to State Supreme Court

Former Georgia Gov. Roy Barnes will represent the City of Brookhaven, which filed the appeal.

The dispute between Brookhaven and Chamblee over the annexation of Century Center is headed to the Georgia Supreme Court.

The City of Brookhaven appealed this week Judge Tangela M. Barrie's court order this month stopping the city from moving forward with an annexation of the commercial corridor on Clairmont Road until the City of Chamblee is able to hold a scheduled referendum on its own annexation of the property in November, according to The Brookhaven Post.

The Post also noted former Georgia Gov. Roy Barnes will represent the city before the court:

Brookhaven’s City Manager, Marie Garrett: “Anytime there is a challenge of litigation, our responsibility as a City is to get the best attorney to represent, and when necessary, defend the City. Roy Barnes is an expert in this area of law regarding annexation and property.”
