Brookhaven to Halt Annexation Efforts

The city will also withdraw its appeal in Chamblee litigation.

The Brookhaven City Council voted unanimously on Tuesday to halt its annexation efforts for Century Center, according to a post on the city's Facebook page.

It will also withdraw its appeal of the litigation with Chamblee, the post went on to say.

Brookhaven and Chamblee were battling over the commercial development near I-85 and Clairmont. In late October, a Dekalb Superior Court judge denied Brookhaven's Century Center annexation efforts, saying that Brookhaven could only proceed if a referendum going before DeKalb voters on Nov. 5 failed. Brookhaven filed an appeal of the judge's decision the next day.

However, the referendum passed, meaning a portion of unincorporated DeKalb that included the Century Century property can be annexed into Chamblee.
