With a DeKalb judge dismissing the Pink Pony's lawsuit against Brookhaven for being prohibited from selling alcohol, and the Alcohol Board of Appeals sustaining the city's action, a grassroots effort is underway to get Brookhaven to settle with the adult club.

Kathy Forbes, a longtime Brookhaven resident and board member with the Brookhaven Peachtree Community Alliance, has launched a website and petition asking the city "to leave the Pink Pony alone."

"Despite the pleas from the community, the conclusive results of the telephone poll, and the outcome of the roundtable discussion with the mayor where not one single person in attendance supported the position of the city – our elected officials have remained steadfast in their determination to enforce their ordinance and their will," said Forbes in an email to Patch. "It is as if the telephone poll never happened and there was no such thing as constituents."

As one who voted for Brookhaven city-hood, I can't remember closing the Pink Pony being a priority for anyone. It was not something the voters asked for, nor was it listed as a platform for any of the candidates for Mayor or City Council. So why is this costly effort so important? It's nonsense and the city should settle now and avoid any further expense.
